So the news tells us there’s corruption everywhere, the economy is pretty shaky and now the weather’s gone down hill. Miserable, hey? Well maybe, but I’m not going to take this lying down. I’ve been looking at loads of blogs this week and came across Mummy from the Heart who hosts a weekly bloghop called ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’. I think we could all do with a bit of that so here’s my list:
1) Being a second time mum
I enjoyed being a new mum first time round but it was hard going. What a learning curve! I never felt like I knew what I was doing or whether things were going ok. What’s that rash? Is he ever going to start talking? Am I going back to work too soon? This time I’m so much more confident that I can just enjoy having a tiny baby without all the worry and I absolutely love it.
2) E being a fantastic big brother
I’ve heard so many stories about how difficult toddlers can find adapting to a new baby. I have a friend who is at her wits end because her four year old will pretend to fall over every time she walks past her new baby brother so she can ‘accidentally’ kick him. Don’t get me wrong, E has certainly had his moments since the baby arrived. There’s been some tantrums when he wasn’t getting enough attention and he’ll always find the noisiest toy to play with when I’m trying to get T to sleep but whenever they’re together E is so gentle, tickling his tummy, playing this little piggy or helping him grip on to toys. No matter what he’s doing T’s face lights up whenever he sees his big brother and seeing them together just makes my heart melt.
3) Being a new blogger
I’m very new to blogging, having finally taken the plunge thanks to Netmums Parent Bloggers Network, which I wrote about in a recent post (here). I’m really enjoying it and people have been so kind and generous in their comments.
So that’s why I’m cheerful (and grateful) today. Why don’t you pop over to Michelle’s blog and linky up your own reasons to be cheerful?
I like your post and the fact that you are joining in with the wonderful #r2bc. Stick with it even on the more challenging weeks because it really does help you deal with things or that is my experience anyway.
I remember feeling like that after my second was born and when you see just how deeply siblings love each other it is so great as a parent.
Blogging is fabulous, my very best discovery ever. I blog over at http://gigglingatitall.blogspot.com
I talk of other blog hops over at http://celebratingmums.wordpress.com
Thanks, I’m sure some weeks will come easier than others but that’s propably the best time to do it, right? I’ll definitely head over to your blogs this afternoon. It’s always fab to see how everyone approches this differently. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Hi! Welcome to the world of blogging! It is also my first R2BC post this week, even though I have been blogging for a few months now. I write http://www.mummymanda.com please pop over and say Hi! Really glad you’ve had reasons to be cheerful this week – I’m definately going to continue as things are going to get tougher when I return to work in a few weeks time, I’m going to have to remind myself of the positive things! xx
Thanks for stopping by, I’ll definitely pop over. Good luck for the return to work. I remember how stressful that time was but it gets better, promise!
