After telling you 10 things you didn’t know about me a little while ago I didn’t think there was much more to tell but I’ve been tagged by not one but three of my fellow bloggers (thank you to Diary of a Lagos Mum, Mum 2 Baby Insomniac and Not My Year Off) to take part in Real Housewife of Suffolk County‘s A-Z meme that’s doing the rounds. So here are some tidbits from the Yellow Days closet.
ANORAK…Do you have a sad side?
I have a complete love of sci-fi and fantasy so I guess that’s a big ‘Yes!’ Everything from Buffy and Angel to SG1. I draw the line at Twilight though. I’ve got standards, you know!
BODY…What physical attribute would you most like to change?
Honestly, I don’t really want to change anything. Not that I think I look good, it’s just that it’s not something I’ve ever really worried about. I suppose I’d happily be thinner. I’m dieting at the moment as I need to fit into my suits when I go back to work but that’s more because I can’t afford to buy more clothes than because my weight particularly bothers me.
CELEBRITY…Which one would you most like to date and why?
I’ve already confessed my love for Andrew Marr and Gene Hunt (from Life on Mars) but at the moment I’m having my Sunday evenings brightened by the lovely Sgt Stonebridge from Strikeback: Project Dawn. Imagine if you could combine the three!
DEBUT …Tell us about your first ever blog post. What made you start blogging?
It was a bit of a spur of the moment thing in July about making the most of the days when everything is going well. I’m really enjoying it so far so I’m just going to see where it goes.
ERROR …What’s been your biggest regret?
Not having learnt to speak Russian. I had the chance while at university and didn’t take it. I could try now but I know I’d find it hard on my own.
FUNNY – who’s making you laugh?
My brother and sister make me laugh more than anybody.
GRAND…If we gave you one right now what would you spend it on?
A holiday, somewhere it’s still sunny with a pool.
HOLIDAY… What’s your favourite destination?
For our honeymoon we spent a week in Paris and then drove down to the south coast of France and stayed in a villa for a week. For me that was the perfect mix of touristy sightseeing, food, nightlife, history, views and sun.
IRRITATE… What’s your most annoying habit?
Annoying, moi? I’m charming in every respect. Although Hubs would probably say my messiness drives him crazy, and my forgetfulness, oh and getting biscuit crumbs in the bed.
JOKER… What’s your favourite joke {the one that makes you laugh every time you hear it}?
Now you’ve put me on the spot I can only think of one joke. Two fish in a tank. First one says ‘How do you drive this thing?’ *groan*
KENNEL… Do you have any pets?
Our ancient tabby died just before E was born and much as we loved her I’m not sure if I want to get another one while we live in the middle of a city. Don’t think I could handle a ‘kitty’s gone to heaven’ type conversation with a distraught pre-schooler.
LOVE…Are you single, married, engaged, living with a long term partner?
Hubs and I have been together 11 years, married for 5. I only want to kill him about once, maybe twice, a month.
MEAL… What’s your ultimate starter, main and dessert?
I’d have to start with some seafood like calamari or octopus. Then something creamy like a risotto or spaghetti carbonara. Pudding would have to be sweet and sticky, maybe a syrup sponge or a sticky toffee pudding probably with vanilla ice cream. Carb-tastic! I think it’s clear why I can’t fit into my suits now, isn’t it?
NOW…If you could be anywhere right now where would you be and who with?
Bed, on my own, with a cup of tea, watching Newsnight. I’m easily pleased.
OFF DUTY…What do you do in your spare time?
Mainly watching terrible TV, a bit of blogging, baking (when I’m not on a diet) and writing ‘to do’ lists for Hubs.
PROUD MOMENTS …What are you most proud of?
Every time E is scared to do something and then does it anyway.
QUEASY …What turns your stomach?
BNP party political broadcasts.
RELAX…How do you relax?
Sleep and/or vodka
SONG…What’s your favourite song of all time?
I have loads but it would have to be something from the power ballad area of the music spectrum suitable for singing loudly in the car.
TIME …If you could go back in time and relive it again, when would you choose?
17 was pretty good or maybe I’d go back to when E was born and do first time parenting again but with what I know now.
UNKNOWN…Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows?
I don’t think there is anything about me that no one knows. Between my husband, my sister, my mum and my best friends there’s nothing left to tell.
VOCAL… Who is your favourite artist?
I’m currently enjoying Milly, Geo and Bot from Team Umizoomi.
WORK… What is your dream job, and are you doing it now?
I wanted to be a spy when I was younger. I got most of the way through the various assessments to join MI5 but didn’t quite make the grade. I probably shouldn’t be telling everyone that. Maybe that’s why I didn’t get in. It was for the best as no one I came into contact with during the process looked remotely like Adam or Lucas from Spooks so I think I would have been disappointed. I wouldn’t describe what I do now as a dream job but I do get to help improve services for cancer patients in the NHS so I’m at least doing something I think is important.
XRAY… Any broken bones?
I had a suspected broken collar bone after going head first down a flight of stairs in 2007. Luckily it turned out I just bent it a bit but it does mean I still can’t carry anything heavy with my right arm which is very annoying when you have babies.
YIKES… What’s been your most embarrassing moment?
I once passed out in a lift in University College Hospital and woke up in the basement much to the surprise of the filing clerk who found me.
ZOO… If you were an animal, which one would you be?
I’d be one of those soppy aging Alsatians that really only wants to doze on the sofa but would chew your arm off if you came near my family.
So, who can I pass the baton to? I’m going to tag:
@jbmumofone
@louereeve
@mid30slife
If you’d like to have a go you can get a copy of the blank list here.

The BNP turns my stomach too!
Blimey. Good thing someone found you in the lift, you might have spent the night there!
Yep, was very lucky. Thanks for tagging me.
You nearly learnt Russian? Wow! You have very good taste in desserts! Sticky toffee pudding is the best thing ever! x
My diet is making me obsess about puddings at the moment, so yummy!
We should go out to dinner together, we would order near enough the same thing and no faffing about!
I wish I could, very bored of diet food! We clearly both have excellent taste.
A spy! I didn’t really think MI5 existed – that’s a pretty cool thing to have on your cv, even if you did fail 😉
I think in reality it’s nowhere near as exciting as the films. Having said that, it’s probably just a bit more exciting than working in the NHS.
