Ever the dedicated student I arrived at Blog Camp yesterday with a sharpened pencil and an apple for the teacher. Well, actually I found a biro in the bottom of my bag and nicked one of E’s bags of mini jammy dodgers but you get the idea. I’m sure other attendees will fill you in on what we learnt about the finer points of Search Engine Optimisation, ethical blogging and dealing with PRs but here is what I picked up.
- The Bristol road system is not very forgiving.
- Don’t get between a woman and the tea and coffee table.
- Don’t spend too much time chatting and drinking tea at the beginning or you’ll have to sit behind a pillar all day.
- There will always be a technical hitch with the laptop at the beginning of every conference.
- PRs are just as confused by bloggers as we are by them.
- No matter how good a conference is, 90% of the feedback will be about the lunch.
- Bloggers rarely look like our profile pictures.
I never was any good at taking notes.

A very informative post Ms Parrott, I do in fact believe you look like a tray of cupcakes and who did you get in the way of?! Lovely to finally meet you and I know you learnt lots of things! x x I have just failed by leaving an unhelpful comment – oops!
Thanks, I like to think I’ve covered all the key learning points. It was great to meet you. Next time I’ll fashion some kind of cupcake hat. x
Hee hee, twas a handsome pillar none the less.
I guess we could truly concentrate on the message of the speakers because the visual component was removed.
Hehe sounds like a fun day, I really want to go to one too!
Joking aside, I am really glad I went. It was great to meet other bloggers and the speakers were really interesting. Do go to one if you can.
Note to self, always look behind pillars! So your saying I don’t look like a tea cup with a heart on! 🙂
That’s obviously a good thing! 😉
Mahahaha I am about to leave a totally invaluable comment. *ahem*
PENIS ENLARGEMENT
Thank you very much. I learned A LOT yesterday.
*mwah*
I just had to pull this out of my spam box. You’re not going to get quality backlinks like that, Missy!
Was it that motherventing rushing to get the tea and biscuits?! Would have loved to have joined you all – it sounds like a lovely day full of information to make my brain hurt.
Surprisingly it wasn’t Motherventing but another much scarier lady. Motherventing did however have a good go at the cakes, returning with one in each hand which was very impressive.
Sounds like you had a good time – wish I could have made it but difficult with the 2 at the moment. Ohhh and hiding behind pillars is a great conference position I’ve spent many in just the same place.
What? Free biscuits! I will be there next year!
Sounds like avery informative day, I sorry I missed the free biscuts.x
Haha, the main thing I learnt was NEVER to take Iyla to a blogging conference again! Great day though! x
Haha Blog camp sounds great! Glad there was a food, tea and coffee bias, my kind of day. And let me tell you, after 14 years of living in Bristol I never worked out the road system 🙂
And what was the lunch like?
Tea and biscuits are all very well but unless the lunch is good I’m not going.
Heehee this is a different post about the event thats for sure 🙂 nicely summed up 😉
brilliant Cat! I don’t know how I missed this post…. pure brilliance 🙂 xx
