Mammasaurus’s Mission #blogitforbabies

You may have heard some talk about Blog it for Babies recently so I thought I’d fill you in on Mammasaurus’s Mission.

Most of my readers are mothers and most of us were lucky enough to have our babies in a safe environment with access to all the medical support we could possibly need. The situation is very different in Bangladesh where 8 out of 10 women have to give birth in their homes with no health worker to help them. 11 newborn babies die every hour and many more will die before the age of 5 because they can not access the healthcare they need.

Save The Children are trying to raise money to build clinics in rural areas so pregnant women and their babies can get the medical care and health education they need and you can read more about their plans here. To support this project Mammasaurus is on a mission to marshal bloggers into action, writing about it and raising awareness. You can click on the badge for all the info but the fun part for us is that she will be traversing the country during the last week of April/beginning of May to host a variety of blogger fundraising events. You can find the full list of dates and places here and if there is one near you that you’d like to come along to just get in touch via the relevant facebook group or contact Mammasaurus directly.

For my part, I will be organising the Birmingham/Midlands leg of her tour and the event will be on Wednesday 2nd May. We’re still finalising the details but it will be a fun, informal, daytime meet up which will involve some food and kids will be welcome. If that sounds tempting and you want to be kept up to date with the plans just pop over to join our Facebook group or leave me a message below and I’ll make sure you get all the details as they are confirmed over the next couple of days.

I hope lots of you can make it. It should be a really fun afternoon chatting with other bloggers (as well as the awesome Mammasaurus who is lovely, by the way, she doesn’t bite or growl or anything!) and raising awareness of a really good cause so I look forward to seeing you then. In the meantime do check out all the posts and tweets that are already circulating using #blogitforbabies.

[Throughout April I'm taking part in the A to Z Challenge. This is my post for M (I'm still a bit behind, eek!). My last post was about telling fussy eaters to Like it or Lump it and next time I'm talking about my nails.]
