Our Midlands Blogger #MalMeetup
One of the nicest things about blogging is that it has given me the chance to meet lots of lovely people. On Saturday I spent a fab evening in Malmaison with some local bloggers. It always surprises me how much fun these events are even though many of us haven’t met before.
We started off in the bar which was busy enough to feel lively but still had room for us to sit down (I know, I know, but I am 33, give me a break!). I was driving so pushed the boat out with an orange juice and lemonade but the cocktails looked fantastic. Jo from Jo’s Kitchen was telling us about her upcoming wedding and had an impressive looking one all full of berries. Can’t believe I didn’t instagram it, what kind of a blogger am I, hey?
We headed in for dinner and had a really tough time choosing. The Brasserie had put together a three course set menu for us and I was pondering the duck spring rolls on a noodle salad but finally settled on a delicious sardine starter. It’s hard to look classy and composed while dissecting a fish but my dinner companions didn’t hold it against me.
Our newly wed foodie blogger, Charlene from No Love Sincerer, was very excited to see Boeuf Bourguignon on the menu and Rebecca from Here Come The Girls went for a fish stew that smelt amazing but I was more than happy with my tasty steak.
I allowed myself a glass of wine and set about getting to know a bit more about my fellow bloggers. My real life job in a cancer network made me particularly interested to hear about Roz’s journey through cancer (which originally inspired her to start blogging) to recently having her second child. She now blogs about moving on from her illness at Life, Love, Lollipops.
I finished up with a rum baba and a coffee that gave me a huge head rush. Good to know I’m even a lightweight when it comes to caffeine nowadays.
The friendly staff were professional throughout and gave us great advice on our choices. They weren’t even remotely phased by the fact we all kept whipping out our phones to take photos of everything. We really couldn’t fault them. In fact I so enjoyed it, I’m heading back there on Friday night.
If you’d like to visit Malmaison, I have a two course Sunday lunch for two to give away here. If you’re a Midlands blogger who like to come to one of our social events in the future you can head over and join our Facebook group and if you are a brand or venue that would like to help us arrange an event please contact me.
[Note: Malmaison worked with us to create a menu to meet our budget for this event and provided the competition prize but no incentive was received to write about the event and, as ever, all opinions are my own.]

It was a fab night and lovely to meet up with you again. Malmaison is such a lovely venue and they couldn’t have been lovelier.
Oh and thanks or organising it!
You’re more than welcome, so glad you could come.
Great write up! It was lovely to meet you and thanks for organising – I had a great time.
I’ve started my write-up but not had a chance to finish it yet.
Lovely to meet you too. Hope we’ll see you at the next one. Do drop me the link when you’re done and I’ll share it around.
Am so mad I missed this, especially since you had Rum Babas!
Sounds like you all had a fab night; looking forward to meeting you all at the next one.
