Win the beautiful This I Know: Notes on Unravelling the Heart by Susannah Conway
This week’s competition prize is a beautiful book by Susannah Conway called This I Know: Notes on Unravelling the Heart. I first stumbled upon Susannah when she ran a really interesting session at Blog Camp Birmingham earlier in the year and have been following her blog since then.
Susannah has quite a few strings to her bow. As well as blogging she is a wonderful photographer who seems to have the knack of making everyday moments around the house or out and about into an image that is unbelievably pretty, sort of delicate. If you’ve stopped by Yellow Days before you’ll be aware that photography is not my strong suit so I’m currently reading Susannah’s ‘Photo Meditations’ e-book and hoping to pick up some tips but I fear I may be a lost cause.
She also runs some really successful and often over subscribed e-courses on a number of topics including one called ‘Blogging from the Heart’ which I’m really tempted by myself.
And to top it all off, this renaissance woman is also an author. After co-authoring a photography book called ‘Instant Love’ she has just published ‘This I Know: Notes on Unravelling the Heart’.
This book is about unraveling the layers of our lives, delving beneath the surface in order to better understand ourselves, our relationships, and our path. Susannah uncovered this process following a tragedy—the sudden death of the man she loved. In sharing her journey of self-discovery first through her blog, then her online courses, and now in these pages, she reveals how grief reshaped her life and led her to reconnect with her creativity, make peace with her past, and learn to appreciate herself.
I’ve only had a quick skim through the first chapter of my copy as I’m saving it for my holiday in a couple of weeks but here’s what some of the reviewers have had to say so far:
Reading Susannah’s words feels like spending time with a perfect friend—the kind who mixes mojitos as she listens to your dreams, laughs and cries with you, and most of all, persuades you that YOU CAN DO IT! I lost count of the times I was inspired to put it down to take a photograph or to write in my journal. I’m still bowled over by the generosity of this book. – Sarah Salway, Canterbury Laureate and author of You Do Not Need Another Self-Help Book
Susannah Conway’s new book works magic: it meets us in our darkest moments—of grief, shame, hopelessness—and shows us how to transform them into love, creativity, and confidence. Written with tenderness, filled with gorgeous images and helpful exercises, she reminds us that the beauty we seek is always right in front of our eyes. – Susan Piver, author of The Wisdom of a Broken Heart
To enter to win a copy all you need to do is leave me a comment telling me where in your house you’d sneak off to for a bit of peace and quiet to read your copy and record your entry in the rafflecopter widget below. Personally, I love to take a book out onto the patio while T has his nap, not that we’ve had much chance for that this year. You can get the usual extra entries for tweeting about the giveaway etc and just record that too. The competition will close on Sunday 22nd July.
