The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is one of T’s favourite shows. He loves the characters, the fun songs and the recurring catch phrases and I like that it introduces lots of pre-maths concepts like shape, position and repeating patterns without being too earnest. Fisher Price produce a range of soft toys and playsets to accompany the series and we’ve recently been sent a Fly ‘n’ Slide Club House to try out.
The clubhouse arrived very nicely packaged with bright engaging images and the figures on display and would make a lovely gift as a result. I must of course have my usual gripe about the difficulty of getting everything out of the box but after that the set up was very straightforward.
There was lots to keep T amused. The Mickey and Minnie characters can fly round in a plane, pop out of the trap door, play on the see-saw or head down the slide as well as just acting out scenarios in the clubhouse. I would say the age range of 2-5 might be a little high as while 5 year old E loves the show and wanted to have a go to see how it all worked, he quickly wandered off to find something a bit more challenging. I can also see toddlers of 18 months or so enjoying it as the pieces are all quite chunky and easy to handle.
As I’ve come to expect from Fisher Price the build quality was very good. The plastic is thick and solid and everything joins together snuggly. The clubhouse has an RRP of around £30 (which I think is pretty reasonable for what is quite a substantial playset that will clearly last) and is currently available on Amazon for £23.99
The kind folk at Fisher Price have also got a set to giveaway to a lucky Yellow Days reader so if you’d like to be in with a chance of winning leave me a comment telling me who is your favourite clubhouse character, I’m a fan of goofy myself, and record it in the rafflecopter widget below along with any additional entries you’d like to make. The giveaway will run until Monday 14th October 2013.
