We’ve all heard that ‘breakfast is the most important meal of the day’ but this is especially true for children about to start a day at school. Sadly not all children are getting the fuel they need in the morning and this can have a massive impact on their ability to learn. A recent study commissioned by Kellogg’s has show:
- Children arriving at school hungry are missing the learning equivalent of 70% of one school term over their entire primary school life;
- Over a quarter (28%) of teachers claim that there has been an increase in children arriving at school hungry;
- One in four teachers has seen a child fall asleep in the classroom due to a lack of food or drink.
This is why Kellogg’s has been working with schools to set up breakfast clubs over the last 10 years and now they want to go further with their nationwide ‘Help Give a Child a Breakfast’ campaign to donate two million breakfasts to school breakfast clubs in the most deprived areas in the UK. This means that the children who need it the most can enjoy the best possible start to the day.
It would be great if you could head over to the site to help share the campaign and in the meantime you can win £50 of Kellogg’s cereal vouchers to give to your child’s school to help them take part in this important project. Just leave me a comment telling me what is your favourite type of Kellogg’s cereal and record your entry in the Rafflecopter widget below along with any additional entries for tweeting etc. The give away will run until Monday 28th October 2013.
