I don’t often share photos just for the sake of it but I snapped this one recently and it so perfectly captures T’s current fascination with the world around him I couldn’t resist. T is 3 1/2 and has always been very physical with boundless energy and enthusiasm and a slightly unnerving lack of fear but recently we’ve been seeing a whole other side to him. He really wants to understand how everything works, how they fit together, what makes them go. He regularly surprises us by explaining something he’s noticed or a plan he has, showing a logical, thoughtful side that we’d never seen before. Now whenever I get my camera out he doesn’t pull a silly face or grab his favourite toy to pose with. Instead he is suddenly mesmerised by the camera itself, the lens zooming in and out, the flash, the screen and all the buttons, trying to figure it all out. He wants to know what they all do, how it works and, most importantly, how he can get his hands on it to have a go. His expression here just says it all.

Same age as my son and I am noticing this too. Can I dare say maturity? I am very very excited in this phase of my sons life. Curious about the world and I wish that i can rightly answer all his questions.
