You’ve probably noticed that we’re huge fans of Autumn in the Yellow Days household. We’re using #AutumnLove on instagram at the moment to share the joys of the season (do join in). You’ll also find lots of Autumnal and Halloween content here in the coming weeks. Luckily, I’m not the only one who feels this way so today I thought I’d share some Autumnal posts from a few of my favourite bloggers to get you all in the Autumn spirit.
Autumn Recipes
Apples are everywhere at the moment. This year I’m really missing the massive apple tree we had in our old garden. I made a collection of 150 great apple recipes a while ago. Kirsty from the Mummysphere has a shared a recipe for easy baked apples that looks delicious while Emma at Bavarian Sojourn has a German style apple cake. Of course plums are also readily found this time of year and Aly from Bug, Bird and Bee has been making some lovely yellow plum chutney. Following Aly’s example and foraging your own ingredients will really get the kids excited about cooking and Autumn is the perfect time to give it a try. Check out Mummy from the Heart’s post on foraging for beginners for some advice.
Autumn Crafts and Activities
If you’re at a loose end then check out Cass from Diary of a Frugal Family’s huge list of 80 Ideas for Family Fun. Themed crafts and activities are a great way to encourage discussions about the world around us. Joy from Pink Oddy has been making hedgehogs and sharing who to contact if you find one that is injured. Jennifer made some lovely Autumn themed hama bead tealight holders over at Jennifers Little World. Otilia at Romanian Mum has a simple hand print tree activity that would look beautiful with Autumn coloured leaves. If you’re already starting to plan for Halloween then do pop over to Mummy Alarm and check out Carolin’s post about Halloween Safety.
