Just a quick one this week but it is bringing out the kid in me. Pop over to Kate Takes 5 to join in.
1) Yogi Bear– For no other reason than it was the first film we took E to see at the cinema and seeing how excited he was and his absolute amazement at the size of the ‘massive telly’ was worth sitting through any old rubbish (although it was actually quite funny).
2) Sound of Music – Loads of sing-a-long fun. Well until the Nazis arrive anyway, they’re a bit of a downer.
3) Bedknobs and Broomsticks – Angela Lansbury was brilliant as a trainee witch who gets lumbered with three young evacuees during the blitz and ends up saving Britain from invasion. The animated animal football game in the middle is a classic.
4) Toy Story – The perfect example of a kids film that is genuinely funny for the adults as well.
5) The Goonies – Do I need to say more? Everyone loved the Goonies, didn’t they?

I watched Sound of Music a year or so ago and was so shocked with the arrival of the Nazis. I’m sure they weren’t in it when I was a child?!
Gonna have to look out for Bedknobs and Broomsticks. What a classic!
I think I must just be in denial as the Nazis always take me by surprise even though I’ve easily seen it twenty times.
Hi Huni, I cannot believe that I’d forgotten about bedknobs and Broomsticks, just as Rebecca English said in the comment above…what a classic!!! Cheesy but I used to love it!x
It’s a proper Sunday afternoon film, isn’t it? The movie equivalent of comfort food.
I love all of these!
Why thank you! I’m generally known, and mocked, for my terrible taste in TV and films so all complements gratefully recieved.
oh so you went to see Yogi Bear? I was in 2 minds about it. Can you believe I’ve never seen Bedknobs and Broomsticks?! Great list xxx
Oh, you must find B&B on DVD somewhere. You won’t regret it. Thanks for commenting.
Fab list and I’ve found another film that i should have seen but haven’t – Bedknobs and Broomsticks! Thanks x
You haven’t seen B&B either???? I feel I have done the world a service by highlighting this underrated classic! 😉
Love Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Sound of Music is my wife’s favourite film of all genres. Great list
Thanks, it’s hard to narrow it down to 5, isn’t it?
Bedknobs and Broomsticks. How did I forget that one? I always wanted to be a witch lol
I think I might have caused a small upsurge in rentals of B&B, I should be getting royalties!
My sister and I were discussing whether Bednobs and Broomsticks would make our list, glad it made yours
I think Bedknobs and Broomsticks was the first film I saw in the cinema – either that or the Rescuers. Love them both anyway. Thanks for joining in. x
I’ve always loved The Goonies. And Toy Story (all of them!) Can’t wait until my youngest is old enough to indoctrinate, I mean educate 🙂
