I hate getting changed at the end – with or without kids. It also means I have to shave. Oops! Still, legs defuzzed, I went swimming with a 4 year old, a 1 year old and my husband yesterday. It was great! I genuinely do recommend it – even though the changing rooms from start to finish were a disaster and I almost went home without making it to the pool.

E will start having lessons at school in September but he’s quite nervous of trying new things so I want him to have done it before then or he’s likely to just dig his heels in and refuse.

I take A to a mother and baby swimming class which I enjoy until we have to go out and she screams for ten minutes because she is so cold. Have you looked at private pools? It is more expensive but can be a smaller, safer environment!
