You’ve probably seen lots of people posting the 5 songs that come up when they shuffle their iPod. After seeing Motherventing had come up with 5 groups I’d never even heard of I was feeling pretty old and out of touch. I fear my iPod is likely to confirm this but here goes:

A bit cheesy but something produced this decade at least, excellent. My little brother recently said of Adele ‘She’s got a great voice and writes good songs, now if she would just stop whining about boys I might be able to listen to her’. Can’t say I disagree but I do like this one. Moving on…

I love pretty much anything the Counting Crows have ever done. I saw them live when I was at uni and they were brilliant. If I could only listen to music by one band for the rest of my life it would be them. Feeling pretty positive about these so far…

Not a bad way to finish. I can’t believe I’ve managed this without any 80s power ballads which make up a very large proportion of the contents of my iPod. Phew! So what did you get?

Love The Cardigans and Morcheeba and Adele is amazing, isn’t she? *pretends he didn’t see Flo Rida* I don’t know what it is with Counting Crows though, so many people love them but I just can’t get into them. A girl I used to work with was mad about them and I agreed to go and see them with her at The Royal Albert Hall. Our seats were in the Gods, which didn’t help the atmosphere, but she still loved it and I struggled. I don’t know why. I saw McFly once at V Festival and I even quite enjoyed those – I just love seeing live music no matter who it is. I admit ‘Mr Jones’ is a good song but nothing else of theirs hits the spot. Maybe it was their cover of ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ that put me off. Any song recommendations of theirs that’ll help me change my opinion would be much appreciated.
