I am so glad it’s December and I can finally let out my Christmas cheer. I love it and turn into a complete child at this time of year. It’s even more fun now that E is old enough to really understand what’s happening and look forward to it with me (especially as Hubs is a Christmas Scrooge and couldn’t care less).
My theory is that there’s no point in getting the advent calendar out for the 1st of December and not putting up all the decorations up so I can bask in the Chistmassy joy for a full six weeks at least.
Our first house in Cardiff was a Victorian terrace with really high ceilings and for out first Christmas there I bought a huge 7 foot tree. Ridiculous, I know, but quite in keeping with my approach to the festive season. Unfortunately, due to the amount of toys filling my living room in our current house that tree is relegated to the loft and has had to be replace by a slightly less ostentatious one which must live on a table to maximise floor space.
Our decorations have also had to be tweeked for our family Christmas. Gone are the pretty glass ones I’ve acquired over the years. They’ve been replaced with plastic and felt that won’t break or hurt the boys when they pull them off.
Admittedly, we may be missing a bit of the style that our pre-kids Christmases used to have but we can get that back in a few years. For now I’m more than happy with the cheesy family friendly look we’ve got and most importantly so are the boys.

Oooooh, I love all your decorations. Your house looks so pretty and festive. And i dont think that your tree is any less beautiful and classy for being child-friendly, it looks lovely. I especially love your Christmas wreath, and you have reminded me that I am yet to get any mistletoe. I must get some soon. X

Can’t forget the mistletoe! Like everything else we’ve had to swap to the non-poisonous plastic variety but it’s the thought that counts. X

Your decorations are lovely. I especially like the red wreath at the top of your pics, did you make it yourself? It’s beautiful!

It all looks wonderful, Cat. As a self-confessed Scrooge, I still do enjoy seeing everyone’s decorations and I really really want to come over and have a mince pie and get some of your Christmas cheer to rub off on me!! X

It all looks lovely and really warm. I think I’ll put a few more bits up – it looks bare here in comparison!
