Today – Cheap car hire vs buying a car, which works best?
I’ve had a few cars over the years. New and very far from new, different models, colours and sizes. One thing is common to them all though, owning a car is never cheap. Sometimes you’ve paid out a lot to buy the car in the first place, sometimes you’re paying off finance. You might have to budget for repairs or have chosen to be paying for a maintenance contact. And don’t even get me started on insurance, yikes! There’s never much left over for a pair of fluffy dice nowadays.
Now I’m working from home I’ve been considering whether we really need to keep both our cars. Now is so easy and cheap to rent a car when you need one that has become a real alternative to car ownership. This great infographic from autoeurope.co.uk has really opened my eyes to just how expensive a car can be and makes car hire seem a realistic option.
