I love to visit new places. It doesn’t have to be a big trip to get me excited. I’m just as happy planning a week in the sun with the kids, a foody city break or a long weekend in the Cotswolds. For me, it’s just about getting away to somewhere new. I have to admit though, I do have a few ‘trip of a lifetime’ type plans filed away for when the kids are older.

I’ve written before about my Family Bucket List Destinations, all the places I’d love to go as a family. There are some definite trip of a lifetime options on the list. The Galapagos Islands would be amazing. Japan would be fascinating. How about a safari?

My absolute dream destination though has to be Petra. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the modern wonders of the world, Petra in southern Jordan is believed to have been settled as early as 9000BC. You’d probably recognise the iconic treasury facade carved in pink stone but Petra actually stretches over about 100 square miles including incredible ruins of temples, a theatre and a monastery as well as intricately carved tombs. Stunning right?
