Fiction Friday is a new meme from @Homedad where we can share our favourite kid’s books and this is my choice:
It’s called There’s an Ouch in my Pouch! and it’s the story of Willaby Wallaby who can’t get comfy in his pouch and so goes off in search of another one. After encountering some other animals he returns home and it turns out that the ouch is actually his new baby sister Jillaby. Mum says that there is room in her pouch for two but Willaby decides that now he’s a big boy he doesn’t need to be in the pouch after all.
It’s quite a short book written in a rhythm that is really fun to read and perfect for bedtime but it also gives you a chance to talk about the arrival of a new baby and how things change. We read it with E a gazillion times while I was pregnant and had lots of chats about how Willably felt, how his mum loved both of them and how much he was going to enjoy playing with Jillaby when she was bigger even if she was a bit of a pain at the moment.
You can share your favourites reads too. All the details are over at @homedad.

That sounds like a really sweet story – i like how the subject of a new baby has been tackled in such a nice way. X

We LOVE this book, my son used to make me read it pretty much every bedtime, but it never got boring. Its brilliantly written.

Love this book! Love reading it with an Australian accent (though probably not a really good one).
